WE ARE Shades of Blue, one of Penn State’s premier co-ed a cappella groups. We’re a fun-loving, energetic group of friends who share a passion for creating and performing music together. We host our own concerts each semester, sing before football games in downtown State College and take on gigs throughout campus year-round. Our goal is simple: to share music wherever we can and bring energy to every space we step into!

Beyond live performances, we also connect with audiences online. On TikTok, we’ve grown a community of over 190k+ followers by sharing creative and often viral videos that reach viewers well beyond Penn State.

We were founded in Fall 2003 by Mark Lehnowsky and a small group of friends, and have since grown into a diverse group of students from across majors and backgrounds, united by a shared love of singing. Shades of Blue brings passion and energy to every performance, and we take every opportunity to spread joy through music.

We also record and release music on all major streaming platforms. Our newest EP, Blue Wave, is now available alongside our other recent projects.

We’re a tight-knit family here at Penn State. We love what we do, and we love sharing it with our friends, family, and community.
